Before entering private practice, Mr. Weist held a role as a bank examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Mo., for a short time. Mr. Weist earned a JD from the University of Louisville to prepare for his remarkable career in law. Almost 10 years prior, he received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Notre Dame University in 1961. Mr. Weist became certified to practice law on behalf of the Kentucky and Indiana Bars in 1971, as well as the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
To stay current with changes in his profession, Mr. Weist is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Association, for which he served as president in 1979, the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council and the National District Attorneys Association. In addition to being a member of the Columbia Club of Indianapolis, Elks and the Knights of Columbus, he is a fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.
