/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Lupus Alliance of America LI/Q Affiliate is excited to announce that they are raffling off a Epiphone Les Paul Jr. guitar, donated by The Red, White and Blues Band and autographed by Lady Gaga. In recent months, Lady Gaga has spoken openly about her families' connection with lupus, and since that time she has been gracious enough to do what she can to help agencies like the Lupus Alliance raise funds for to help those living with lupus and for research.
"In the past year, requests for our Quality of Life financial grants have tripled. People living with lupus have been hit by this economic crisis hard, as medication costs, doctor co-pays and more have drained their wallets", said JoAnn Quinn, Executive Director of the Lupus Alliance of LIQ. She added, 'Life on Long Island is hard enough for those who can work full time and are healthy. Imagine how hard it is for someone who struggles to keep even a part-time job despite their debilitating illness, while trying to control that illness by taking expensive medication and visiting several doctors a month. It is almost impossible to do without some kind of help."
The proceeds from the Lady Gaga guitar raffle will go towards the Quality of Life financial assistance program as well as to other support services offered by the Alliance, including educational programs, support and counseling services, kids programs, public awareness programs and more.
Raffle tickets are $25.00 each or a book of 5 for $100.00 and can be purchased on the Alliance website at http://www.lupusliqueens.org/gagaguitar, or over the phone at 516-783-3370 or 1-800-850-9000. The winner will be picked and announced at the Blues on the Bay for Lupus event, starring Forever Young, the world's best Rod Stewart cover band along with 5 other great LI Based blues bands. Blues on the Bay will be on Sunday, September 26th, 2010 at the LI Maritime Museum. Tickets at $20 each are also on sale for that event on the Lupus Alliance website. The winner does not need to be present to win.
