/24-7PressRelease/ - METUCHEN, NJ, August 01, 2008 - American Museum of Ceramic Art
is proud to present "'Paul Soldner: Playing With Fire." The official
selection of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival can be found on
Netflix beginning August 26th.
The biographical DVD examines the life of Paul Soldner, an artist who
changed ceramic art forever. Paul Soldner was at the forefront of the
ceramic revolution of the 1950's. His ceramic art may have started out
as a hobby but he soon introduced new methods of firing, post firing
and pushed limits of surface design and form. Paul Soldner's unique
persona may be unconventional, but his love for art left him known as
the "Miles Davis of Ceramics."
Paul Soldner has become an inspiration to artists everywhere through
his art as well as his views on life. He even began to teach his
"Zen-Like Philosophy" to thousands of art students all over the world.
Paul Soldner's work has also been exhibited all over the US, Europe,
Japan, Korea, Australia, and Taiwan. His influence continues to grow
even today.
"Paul Soldner: Playing With Fire" is director, producer, and editor
Renee Bergan's second feature documentary film. She has won several
awards including the best director award in the documentary category
of the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
She is proud to have worked on this documentary movie featuring an
artist whose love of pottery and ceramics has driven him to change the
way people view not only art, but life.
This Documentary DVD premiered in 2004 and soon became known as "A
trance induced journey." Dave Armstrong of the American Museum of
Ceramic Art believed the movie, "Captures the soul of ceramic arts."

Fest documentary competition and became an official selection for the
