/24-7PressRelease/ -- Last April, Wisteria Suri Ranch became the first Texas ranch to own a full Accoyo Suri alpaca herdsire. Now, they are the first and only Texas ranch to have a full Accoyo Suri breeding program. They have added a full Accoyo foundation female from champion bloodlines to their breeding stock.
Suri alpacas have silky lustrous fleece compared to Huacayas. They are still exceptionally rare comprising less than 1% of the world and 20% of the U.S. alpaca population.
Suri alpacas have a breed standard which was developed in 2007. This clearly outlines and guides Suri breeders when making breeding choices for improvement.
In that regard, Accoyo genetics have been highly sought after by top breeders nationwide for their superior ability to consistently improve both fiber quality and conformation closest to the breed standard.
Leanne Nakashima, owner of multiple champion Accoyos, speaks from experience. "I've seen consistent improvement in fineness, density, luster and overall conformation and type when using Accoyo stud males to improve other bloodlines within a few generations. The Accoyos are genetic powerhouses for improving overall phenotype and genotype."
