With Mother's Day and the Women of the World Festival Taking Over London, This Weekend in the City is All About Girl Power

Women lead the way for another busy weekend, reports LondonTown.com.

LONDON, ENGLAND, March 07, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This weekend sees the return of Mothering Sunday, a day when mums across the country can relax in the knowledge that it's their turn to be fully pampered. London embraces the day with a range of events, special offers and dining deals. Also, for those hoping to treat their mum to an overnight stay in the city, LondonTown.com offers a wide choice of London hotels situated nearby to many of London's best attractions.

Coinciding with International Women's Day, the Southbank Centre celebrates the formidable power of women with the return of their Women of the World festival. Originally launched by the centre's Artistic Director, Jude Kelly, the festival is a response to criticisms she received as a new woman to the role and invites the likes of Sue Perkins, Petula Clark and Marin Alsop to London for five days of music, comedy, films, theatre and poetry.

Wizard of Oz fans should head to the BFI where the release of Disney's 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' is regarded with a season of cinematic visions based around the theme of Oz, while a more immersive film experience can be enjoyed at Future Cinema's latest production, Casablanca. Transforming London's Troxy into the film's famous Cafe Americain, the film screening will be preceded by an evening of singing around the piano, playing in the cafe's casino and feasting on Moroccan delicacies.

Providing a feast for all the senses, the Feast festival returns, this time to Tobacco Dock, with an impressive line-up of London's best chefs, restaurants and market stalls. Diners can indulge on dishes from The Wright Brothers, Pizza Pilgrims, Patty and Bun, Mishkin's and Bone Daddies while also enjoying music from new bands and DJs, and a number of art installations.

Saturday sees the launch of the V&A Museum's new exhibition, Treasures of the Royal Courts, which tells a narrative of the royal courts through armour, textiles and a display of silver. Additionally, the world of London theatre also offers a new opening with Jack Thorne's 'Mydidae' transferring to the Trafalgar Studios.

Art lovers are given two options across the weekend with the return of Battersea's Affordable Art Fair, which showcases affordable contemporary art from more than 100 galleries, and realist painter John Tierney's first solo exhibition in Britain opens at The Osborne Studio Gallery.

Finally, traditional bingo lovers are advised to steer clear from London's Scala on Saturday night as the team behind Rebel Bingo return with another intoxicating version of the granny's favourite pastime.
