/24-7PressRelease/ - Wales, UK, August 24, 2008 - On 9th July Swansea College rewarded students that have made excellent progress and outstanding achievement with an award ceremony in the Brangwyn Hall. The lavish event celebrated the success and determination of the students within the college, some working against great odds to achieve their goals.
Winning the International Baccalaureate Award was Paulina Wojcik from Poland who speaks 5 languages. The representative from the IB stated that 'The international Baccalaureate is one of the most difficult school leaving qualifications in the world and is accepted unconditionally by universities internationally. To win the best IB student of the year as Paulina Wojcik has done opens the doors to an academic future in any country she chooses.' Paulina also went on to win the departmental award and the award for Student of the Year at Swansea College.
Local businesses sponsored many of the awards causing Sue Phillips from the International Baccalaureate to comment that 'It's thanks to companies like Wolfestone Translation that very hardworking students are able to be recognised.' Other companies sponsoring the awards included Swansea Business Life, The Wave and Harcourt Litho. Anna Bastek of Wolfestone commented that 'As a young, dynamic and forward thinking company we are proud to sponsor 2 awards this evening. We strongly believe that by encouraging students to pursue new avenues, such as languages, we can develop young talent for the future.'
The awards ranged from Arts and Media to Electrical and Plumbing and the winners were all thoroughly deserving of their awards.
