Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Alexandra Bryan as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Alexandra Bryan will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016/2017.

ATLANTA, GA, August 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alexandra Bryan, Author and School Nurse, has been recognized with an Excellence Award as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Alexandra Bryan will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016/2017.

Written for children ages 8-12, 'Green Kitty: Stories Grandma Still Remembers' is a book about grandmother's magical and heartwarming memories that come to life with true animal stories. The book, written by Alexandra Bryan, seeks to explain to young readers what Alzheimer's disease and dementia are all about by incorporating a collection of entertaining and educational stories about Grandma's memory. 'Green Kitty' includes many anecdotes, mostly about family pets, by Grandma, who was recently placed into an assisted living facility where she could be better cared for.

"My biggest inspiration for this book and my previous two books was to help improve the quality of life for everyone by promoting health and increasing the general public's knowledge," Bryan said. "I've spent almost 40 years in the healthcare industry and I've always strived to continue learning about the ever evolving medical field."

Motivated to write her children's book after being personally affected by her mother's and other family member's dementia, Bryan has been writing since 1985. In addition to 'Green Kitty', which is available through Apple's iBook store and will be available soon on Create Space and Amazon.com in paperback form, she's also written two others books, an instructional manual for massage classes and a non-fiction book about her own experiences in nursing.

'Green Kitty' was a Finalist for Book of the Year and International Book of the Year, both in children's fiction, and also earned a Gold Seal of Excellence from Mom's Choice Awards. Bryan's favorite reviews of 'Green Kitty' call it "A book for all ages" and "Both heartwarming and humorous!"

Completing her studies at Georgia State University in 1978, Bryan has been a practicing nurse ever since. She currently serves as a School Nurse at an Atlanta area school, responsible for caring for approximately 750 students each academic school year, promoting health through education, ensuring that all students are up to date on vaccines and have been screened for hearing, vision, and dental issues, administering routine medications, and informing parents of potential contagious diseases.
