Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Cecy Rimando Groom as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    CERRITOS, CA, January 06, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cecy Rimando Groom, Certified Public Accountant and Founder of Groom Accountancy Corp., has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Cecy Rimando Groom will be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction Magazine's Top 10 in Business in 2017.

For nearly 35 years, Cecy Rimando Groom has dedicated her career to the field of accounting. Becoming a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 1983 through the California Board of Accountancy, she initially worked with private CPA firms, establishing herself in the field as best she could. Today, she is enjoying the wonderful rewards of entrepreneurship as the Founder of Groom Accountancy Corporation in sunny, Southern California, nestled in Cerritos, Long Beach.

"I thoroughly enjoy my work and couldn't imagine doing anything else. The accounting business is a passion of mine and I am so grateful for having been able to serve the community for all these years," Groom said.

Competing her BA in Accounting in her native country of the Philippines at University of the East, she graduated in 1966 and continued to South Bay University School of Law, for which she spent another two years. Licensed in both the Philippines and the United States, Groom brings a wealth of expertise to her practice.

"I actually got started by working at the US Naval Base and within one year was promoted from Accounting Technician to Management Analyst doing methods engineering," she further explained. "When I came to the US on a professional visa, I worked as a Controller in the private industry, where I spent many more years before finally forming my own firm 13 years ago."

Groom first got the entrepreneurship bug when she was in private accounting. Juggling her everyday workload at the office, she acquired and owned several franchises in the food industry, serving as Area Developer for El Pollo Loco stores and as Franchise Owner of both Sizzler and IHOP restaurants.

Groom's extensive business background stems to more than just her current accounting practice. She is also Co-Founder of The Philippine American Society of CPAs (PASCPA) of Los Angeles, an organization that is dedicated to providing CPAs in the Filipino American community with tools to enhance the advancement of its members by encouraging education, fostering relationships, and promoting the excellence of Filipino-American CPA's. She is also an active Charter Member of Su Casa Foundation, a charity organization for women. Previously, Groom spent 20 years, from 1987-2007, on the Governing Board of Education for ABC Unified School District, serving a total of five consecutive terms.
