Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Christina McCoy as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Christina McCoy will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015/2016.

RICHARDSON, TX, December 03, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christina McCoy, Health Science Teacher at Richardson High School and Medical Technologist at John Peter Smith Hospital, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Christina McCoy will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015/2016.

After entering into the healthcare sector in December 2002 and graduating from college, Christina McCoy changed paths in her full-time career to begin teaching secondary education in June 2012 while working toward her Health Science Technology Certification through the Dallas Independent School District Certification Program. She also began as a Medical Assisting Instructor at Remington College in April 2015.

As the first interaction with freshman students entering into the Health Science Academy, Mrs. McCoy is responsible for teaching them the foundations of each medical career, the hospital structure of management, medical terminology, healthcare laws, life stages of development of a human, and the different federal agencies responsible for inspecting healthcare facilities.

"My undergraduate degree helped assist me with the hands-on projects with students and how the material should be delivered for understanding," Mrs. McCoy said. "Secondly, my master's gave me the knowledge and ability to lead properly. Having the ability to take skills from being a medical technologist, being a health science teacher, and being a medical assisting instructor, and use them to achieve higher results within the students has broadened my mindset and my experience in the healthcare sector."

Earning her Bachelor's from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Ms. McCoy then received her Masters of Health Administration at Webster University. She earned a President's Award at Capella University twice (where she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in healthcare administration), was chosen to host two chapters at Richardson High School as an advisor for Health Occupations Students of America, and was given outstanding student evaluations from the Remington College students. She was also nominated and currently participates in Texas Association of Black Educators, is a volunteer at Hope's Door, a domestic violence organization, and is a proud veteran of the US Army.
