Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Graciela Lara as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Graciela Lara will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015/2016.

VISALIA, CA, February 03, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Graciela Lara, Co-Owner of Five-O-Fitness, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Graciela Lara will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015/2016.

Founding Five-O-Fitness with her husband, Felix Lara, in July 2012, he and Graciela Lara were former Lead Physical Trainers for the Tulare/Kings Police Academy at the time. Training police cadets to be better prepared for their intense physical training program, Felix and Graciela Lara would often meet them at a local park for free to do cardio, body weight movements, calisthenics, and plyometric exercises with them. This led to their spouses and friends asking if they could join in; onlookers were also inquiring. Before they knew it, these free training sessions turned into a full-fledge business.

"As a full-time police cadet you really don't have any spare money," Mrs. Lara said. "One cadet only had $3 to spare, so we decided to start charging $3 and we called it Academy Style Training (now it's called Boot Camp). At the time, we didn't even have a name for our class, so one cadet suggested Five-O-Fitness because my husband and I were both 'Five-0', which is slang for police officer. That same month we obtained our fictitious business name, business license, and insurance. The following week we had about 50 participants at the park. This led to opening a place to continue boot camp throughout the winter and offer personal training. We now have a 4,000 square foot building where we offer $3 Boot Camp classes, $5 Indoor Cycling classes, and $10 personal training sessions."

Five-O-Fitness trains clients in small groups and are all customized based on his/her goals and fitness level. Trainings are customized based on your level and your goal. In addition to offering personal training sessions, classes include Beginner Boot Camp, Fitness Boot Camp, Boot Camp at the Gym, and Indoor Cycling.

With plans to expand in September 2016, Mrs. Lara and her husband will also be franchising Five-O-Fitness. They've been featured in their local newspaper and local news station for their success, and have been awarded by the local American Red Cross for participating in a local Race Against Hunger Run with the second largest team participating. Ms. Lara said that their focus is always on God first; everything else just falls into place because of Him.

Mrs. Lara served as a police officer for 12 years prior to opening the gym. She obtained her Personal Training Certificate in 1998 through International Sports Science Association. She then earned her Physical Training Instructor Certification in 2000 through Peace Officer Standards and Training and became an Assistant Physical Training Instructor for the Tulare/Kings Police Academy. In 2006 she earned her Physical Training Instructor for the Police Academy, followed by an Expert Rating Training Certificate in 2014.
