Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Gwenda Joyce as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

NOVATO, CA, September 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gwenda Joyce, Founder and Owner of Art Ambassador, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Gwenda Joyce was recently featured in a 2016 edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine.

Art Ambassador Gwenda Joyce has been an entrepreneur in the art world for over 30 years and Owner of a fine art gallery for more than 20 of those years. Writing about the arts in the late 1970s for magazines and a local PBS television station, she found herself visiting museum director's offices and artists' studios with cameras, a film crew, and filming interviews. Today, as an Artist Agent and Art Career Coach, Joyce is using her experience to help artists become more successful, better known, and sell more of their art.

"The issue I address with my work is that we are all better off with more art in our lives, but there are barriers to access for both artists and the general public," Joyce said.
Many excellent artists are hidden from view because they don't have business knowledge or access to a wider public. Joyce helps artists transform their careers and find gallery representation where their art is sold to collectors, art lovers, museums, and corporate art collections.

"As a Mentor, I work with artists and creative businesses to help them become more established and successful," Joyce added. "There are inherent challenges for artists to engage in business, but they can be overcome. It is very gratifying to be able to make this kind of change happen. It is so important."

As an Agent, Joyce is connecting artists with galleries and other art world institutions and venues. Additionally, she leads art patrons on art tours to visit places where artwork is made and shown, such as galleries, artists' studios, museums, and art organizations. Her tours are local, national, and international, giving people access to artists and enabling art lovers to better understand the inspiration behind their artwork.

Joyce has been involved with numerous organizations throughout her career, including serving on the boards of the Chicago Art Dealers Association, the Northside Affiliates of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Network of Women Entrepreneurs, Sonoma Community Center, and the San Francisco Chapter of ArtTable. She's also recently contributed a chapter to 'The Art Rules' and writes a weekly blog on the Art Ambassador website called 'The Thriving Artist'.

Before establishing Art Ambassador in northern California, Joyce was Co-Owner of Klein Gallery, Owner of Gwenda Jay Gallery, and Owner/Partner of Gwenda Jay/Addington Gallery, all located in Chicago, Illinois, and was Owner of Art and Landscape Art Consulting in California. Earning her BA at Colorado College, Joyce then completed her MA in Teaching the following year. In 2006, she earned a Landscape Design Certificate from Santa Rosa Community College, followed by a Coaching Certification from Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching in 2010, and a second Coaching Certificate from Practice Building Academy in 2014.
