Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Kelly K. Zdanovec as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Kelly K. Zdanovec will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016/2017.

OSHKOSH, WI, October 10, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kelly K. Zdanovec, Executive Director of Davis Child Care Center, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Kelly K. Zdanovec will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016/2017.

Completing her BA in Preschool/Kindergarten Teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1987, Kelly K. Zdanovec entered into the field while still a junior gaining experience during the summer months at Child Development Inc. (CDI). Never straying from the field, after graduation Zdanovec began working full-time at CDI with high risk children that were also low-income. She then spent time working at the Waisman Center in Madison in an integrated two-year-old classroom before relocating to Boston, Massachusetts to work on the Harvard campus with four-year-old students. Moving back to Wisconsin a few years later, Zdanovec returned to CDI before ultimately landing her first role as a Director in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

"Not much has changed in the 30-plus years I've been working with young children," Zdanovec said, who is now the Executive Director at Davis Child Care Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. "I can honestly say that I love and cherish the children just as much now as I did way back in the beginning. It's a true gift to spend your days working with young children and their families, knowing that you are making a difference in their lives every single day."

As Executive Director, Zdanovec oversees everything from 27, full-time teachers, a number of cooks and administrative support, an average of 12 college students, and working with close to 200 students per day throughout 12 classrooms, five playgrounds, and over an acre of property. No two days are ever the same, yet the everyday experience couldn't be more rewarding.

"The teachers, children, and families mean everything to me," Zdanovec added. "The saying that it takes a village really rings true here at Davis Child Care Center and they all remind me daily just how important what we do in the lives of our children and our future."

Active with many organizations, Zdanovec is a member of a local high school's advisory board for their family studies program, is on an advisory board for a technical school's education degree programs, and is also active on the Wisconsin Child Care Administrators Association, where she spends most of her time as newly appointed Secretary, bringing hot topics to the table, addresses political decision making issues, and making trainings more accessible for other child care administrators.
