Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Michelle Wiegel Gessert, PT CEIM CHC, as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Michelle Wiegel Gessert will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

MADISON, WI, February 03, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michelle Wiegel Gessert, PT CEIM CHC, Clinical Manager Home Health at Home Health United's Madison East Branch, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field with an Excellence Award through Women of Distinction Magazine. Michelle Wiegel Gessert will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

First discovering the field of healthcare while in middle school, Michelle Wiegel Gessert was serving as a volunteer at her hometown hospital in their physical therapy department in 1974. Pushing patients in wheelchairs, helping them on and off the mats, and following therapists as they worked, she learned how to speak medical terminology and was shown the amount of compassion that was required to work with the sick or injured.

All these years later, Ms. Gessert is still practicing in the medical field, and is now serving as a Clinical Manager Home Health. She works closely with Home Care and Hospice, and she enjoys helping the teams who work in areas that include nursing and therapies, scheduling/intake, durable medical equipment, wound care, IV/infusion, cardiocom, and education.

"The key is to work in harmony to provide the care that is needed for the patient who is homebound," Ms. Gessert said. "Like an athletic trainer on a football field, we make quick and accurate decisions to keep the patient safe and healthy in their home."

Ms. Gessert has primarily worked in pediatrics, but she has also worked with local and professional athletes and actors, in work injury and pain management, in the neonatal and the Birth to Three program, has taught at the college level, has coached Wellness Programs, and has even worked with patients using dogs and horses.

A member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Ms. Gessert volunteers for the Apostolate to the Handicapped in Madison, Wisconsin. She is also a founding member of Cooperative Special Recreation Initiative, combining the local Recreation Departments to provide special recreation activities for children and families with special needs. She holds a BS degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin at Madison since 1983, is certified in Wellness and Infant Massage, and is a Certified Health Coach in Chronic Disease Management.
