OVERLAND PARK, KS, November 29, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Once again, we are confronted with the tragic reality that workplace violence poses a great threat to our security and civility. And once again, the crime scene and the facts surrounding the event were not uncommon. An employee was fired. He returned the next day, armed with a rifle and a handgun and started a shooting rampage. How did it end? The gunman died in a shoot-out with police. No doubt, another case of suicide by cop.

Michael Tabman, now a security consultant, has warned that these incidents of workplace violence will continue and their frequency will rise as the deteriorating economy and growing unemployment create more stress and "triggers" for these deadly acts. This past September, Tabman sat down with Diane Stafford of the Kansas City Star and discussed the growing threat of workplace violence and what we need to do to prevent this problem from reaching epidemic proportions.

After retiring from a 24 year career in the FBI, Tabman founded SPIRIT Asset Protection, LLC. SPIRIT has developed a training program to help companies reduce the risk of workplace violence. This program will teach management and staff to identify risk factors, defuse conflict and confrontation, and in a worst case scenario - how to manage and contain the crisis, provide support for your employees, communicate with the press, interact with law enforcement and return to normal operations as soon as possible.

Contact SPIRIT at 913-499-0260 or visit their website at www.spiritllc.biz for an overview of their services, background and expertise. Tabman's interview with Diane Stafford and other related information can also be found on the SPIRIT website.
