After a very successful pilot program in 2008, the Walden Woods Project hired Boston Interactive to advance their mission by improving and expanding upon the website using lessons learned from the pilot program. The new website acts as a robust platform for inspiring teachers and students to do environmental projects in their community and providing them with a special place - the Project Showcase - where they can share their project story. The site is full of helpful project tools, Thoreau readings, and activities to help young people explore their environmental ethic, tips from environmental experts like Ed Begley, Jr., and Bill McKibben, and more.
A richly designed website, Worldwidewaldens.org presents many interactive ways for visitors to get involved with the program's mission of making a positive difference in the world and connect with other people who share the same concerns and convictions. The new website was created with a natural and welcoming tone emphasizing The Walden Woods Project's objective to preserve Thoreau's legacy, and help students explore their own environmental ethic and protect the "Waldens" in their communities. Redesigned information architecture addresses the needs of both students and educators so that they can quickly find the tools, features, and content they need.
