Worldwide Who's Who Names Barbara S. King Professional of the Year in Military Support Services

    JEFFERSON CITY, MO, July 6, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara S. King, Resource Manager for the U.S. Department of Defense-Missouri Army National Guard, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Military Support Services. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Ms. King has nearly five years of experience as a Resource Manager for the U.S. Department of Defense-Missouri Army National Guard. She is responsible for the financial management and administration of various programs under the Construction and Facilities Management Office for the Missouri Army National Guard. Her expertise includes budget preparation, execution and closeout.

Ms. King holds a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in music. She originally joined the military to help pay for college; however, by the end of her initial training, she knew that she had found her career. Immediately after graduation from Advanced Individual Training, she began looking for full-time work in the National Guard; nine months later, she was hired for her first position. Among the many highlights in her career, the most memorable has been her deployment to Iraq from 2003 to 2004. Although it was difficult being away for so long, she met and worked with military members from all over the world, was humbled by how the Iraqi people lived, and was honored to lead an incredible group of soldiers.

With over 19 years in the U.S. Army National Guard, Ms. King is not afraid to take on more than she can probably handle. She believes that the more she can learn the more help she can be to others. She has found success through versatility, and is always looking for ways to help in as many areas as she can. Ms. King attributes her success to God, for helping to keep her on track and follow His plan; her mom, for inspiring her to want to be the best and for always caring about others; fellow soldiers, who have encouraged and supported her throughout her career; and her own desire to make a difference in the world.

Ms. King is a member of the Association of the United States Army and a life member of the Illinois National Guard Association, Missouri National Guard Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Guard Association of the United States and Army Engineer Association. Her service as a Resource Manager contributed to being recognized by the Installations Division of National Guard Bureau - her office received a regional award for excellence in 2009. Ms. King has received a variety of team member citations, and state and federal awards from the U.S. military.

In her spare time, Ms. King enjoys drawing, painting, martial arts, distance running and music, including playing the viola, violin, piano and various percussion instruments. Her future plans include obtaining further military education, completing a tour at National Guard Bureau, commanding soldiers at Battalion and Brigade level, and earning her masters in conducting.
