/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Ivor L. Whitefield, Reg. Professional Engineer and Chief Executive Officer of Platform Resources Pty Ltd, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Civil Engineering. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Mr. Whitefield has 40 years of experience in mining and minerals processing: 20 years in Southern Africa and 20 years in Australia and Asia. He started in the industry as a site engineer managing the construction of a coal processing plant. He is one of the few people in the world to have designed and constructed plants which process the three carbons: coal, diamonds and graphite. Mr. Whitefield has worked in all sectors of the mining industry across a broad range of metals and minerals, for both owners and engineering contractors, with project development being his specialist knowledge. He is Principal of his engineering consultancy, Whitefield Engineers Pty Ltd and has recently launched Platform Resources Pty Ltd, which holds coal tenements in Central Queensland, Australia. As the CEO, his responsibilities include the strategic development and exploration of these tenements and the growth plan for the company.
Mr. Whitefield holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and graduated with honors. He has an MBA and became a registered professional engineer in South Africa in 1975 and in Queensland, Australia in 1998. He attributes his success to hard work, attention to detail and networking. Looking ahead, Mr. Whitefield hopes to have at least one profitable and sustainable mine within Platform Resources stable within the next few years.
