Worldwide Who's Who Names Janet S. Haywood Professional of the Year in Administrative Support Services

Janet Haywood goes above and beyond the expectations of her job description to help shape the future of her company and serve as an inspiration to other women looking to distinguish themselves as leaders and determined professionals

BEARDSTOWN, IL, Novemeber 2, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janet S. Haywood, a General Office Assistant at Cargill, Incorporated, an international producer and marketer of food, agricultural, financial and industrial products and services, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in administrative support services. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Having entered high school as an "A" student in math and very good with numbers, Janet Haywood's teachers encouraged her to try chemistry. Taking their encouragement as an opportunity to try something out of the ordinary, she was optimistic, but found she enjoyed biology and learning how the body functions much more. Straying away from science to take up accounting, Ms. Haywood began to work with numbers and became exposed to the business end as well, which caught her interest immediately. Going on to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting from Monmouth College in 1989, she also picked up a minor in music. Excelling in theory and at the trumpet, piano and cello, Ms. Haywood used her math skills in a creative way, and even composed and wrote music on the side. Though she did not go into music as a career, she still finds the time to practice during the week, and she has even volunteered her time to play at veterans' funerals.

Having garnered more than 23 years of professional experience, Ms. Haywood's advice to women who are entering the workforce is to explore all options and be open-minded. As a woman working in a male dominated field, she has been successful in her career due to her work ethic, reputation for being reliable and dependable, as well as her ability to adjust to a changing world, industry and society. In her role as office assistant and plant biller with Cargill for the past 18 years, Ms. Haywood has demonstrated extensive expertise in bookkeeping and managing administrative duties for the company. She is tasked

with handling logistics, which includes monitoring shipping activities, preparing documents for domestic and overseas exports and overseeing sales, billing and customer service.
In the workplace, Ms. Haywood translates her strong family ties into an ability to understand and communicate with colleagues who come from diverse cultures and have different personalities. Sensitive to the challenges they face, she often helps them to use unfamiliar equipment or answers questions they may have while remaining flexible and keeping everything on a positive and professional level. Recognized for her passion for her profession, Ms. Haywood's supervisors regularly ask her to assume further leadership responsibilities by contributing to critical projects and assisting in making beneficial changes to company procedures.

Always ready to take on a challenge, Ms. Haywood believes that no matter what comes her way, she must always stand up for herself and work hard to satisfy her own professional needs and those of her company. Doing whatever it takes to accomplish the job, she is always the person with the great sense of humor whose wonderful attitude is well received, and she consistently motivates others around her to work hard as well. In addition to her designation as a professional of the year, Ms. Haywood has been featured as a Top Female Executive, an Elite American Executive, was interviewed on Elite Radio Network, as well as received a lifetime achievement award for her accomplishments over the course of her successful career.

Outside of work, Ms. Haywood supports animal care as an active member of the Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA. In her spare time, she also loves participating in outdoor activities, such as walking, riding her bike and gardening.
