Worldwide Who's Who Names KaKarala J. Rao, MD, FACP, FACE Professional of the Year in Internal Medicine & Endocrinology

    NAPLES, FL, July 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- KaKarala J. Rao, MD, FACP, FACE, Retired Physician of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Dr. Rao was a physician with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for more than 30 years, retiring in 2004. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1982 to 1989, and the U.S. Air National Guard from 1989 to 1995. He was also a senior flight surgeon for the U.S. Air Force during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and retired from military service as a lieutenant colonel in June 1995. For his military endeavors, he was recognized as Employee of the Month in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1990. He also received the Outstanding Achievement Award for Desert Shield and Desert Storm from the U.S. Air Force in 1991. In 1996, he was listed on Who's Who of Professionals.

Dedicating his life's work and achievements to the support and teachings of his father, Satyanarayana Kakarala, who was a well-respected and successful lawyer in India, Dr. Rao became a highly-educated and accredited doctor. He has strong credentials due to his decades of study. While he was in India, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Sir C R Reddy College in 1960 and M.B.,B. degree from Chengalpattu Medical College (University of Madras). He then acquired an MD from Guntur Medical College in 1969. After coming to New York, he completed his residency at New York Methodist Hospital in 1972 and at VA Medical Center in 1973. He accomplished his fellowship in endocrinology at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse 1975. In 1992, he moved to Kansas where he earned a Master of Science in community health from the school of medicine at the University of Kansas.

Not only does Dr. Rao have a strong education background, but he also has many certifications. In 1957, he earned a combined certification in Ayurvedic and western medicine from the Government College of Integrated Medicine in India. While in New York, he received a certification of medical and dental acupuncture from New York Medical College in 2006. Additionally, he is licensed as a physician in the states of Florida and New York. Such credentials make him a distinguished member of the professional community. He was also a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1985, ABQAURP in 1991, the American Board of Hospital Physicians in 2002 and the American Board of Disability Analysts in 2004. He now serves as a life member at the American Medical Association, the Aerospace Medical Association, the Association of Physicians of India, AMSUS, the Alliance of Air National Guard Flight Surgeons, the National Association of Veterans Affairs Physicians and Dentists, The Ohio National Guard Association, The National Guard Association of the United States, the Reserve Officers Association of the United States, the National Geographic Society, the Sierra Club, the National Parks Conservation Association and the VFW. Additionally, he is a fellow and charter member of the American Association of Clinical Edocrinologists and a charter member at the American College of Physicians, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and TANA (Telugo Association of North America).

Having achieved decades of success, Dr. Rao intends to continue his career and help others. Aside from his overwhelming achievements, he enjoys playing tennis and attending educational meetings. He also volunteers his time with CARE.
