-- Kathe S. Perez, a speech-language pathologist at Exceptional Voice, Inc., has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Entrepreneur of the Year in Speech-Language Pathology. The founder and president of Exceptional Voice Inc in Denver, Colo., and a certified speech-language pathologist, Perez is a pioneer in providing voice feminization therapy for the transgender community. She has helped thousands of people gain confidence in the way they speak. She has a passion for helping people express themselves with their voices. Having once dreamed of becoming a singer, Perez became involved in her profession after recognizing that she could help aspiring vocalists as a speech pathologist.
Perez has a passion for her work as a speech pathologist as it allows her to not only train voices, but to also advocate for the transgender community. In addition, she provides executive voice coaching, accent modification, and voice coaching for auctioneers. "You can auctioneer with a broken ankle, but you can't auctioneer with a broken voice," says Perez when she presents to her auctioneers.. In addition to managing the daily operations, she makes informative presentations — including demonstrations — of voice feminization therapy techniques and exercises at transgender conferences across the U.S.
In 1993, Kathe undertook doctorate coursework at the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) at the University of Colorado Boulder. She received her Master of Arts degree from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1986. She studied under famed SLHS Professor Lorraine Ramig, PhD, at the University of Colorado Boulder and interned with one of the top voice specialists in the world, Robert Sataloff, MD, Philadelphia, PA. She is a certified speech-language pathologist and a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
