Worldwide Who's Who Names Melanie Bond Cromes Professional of the Year in Metallurgical Engineering

    Lead, SD, January 7, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ --Melanie Bond Cromes, Owner of Cromes Metallurgical Consulting, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Metallurgical Engineering. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Ms. Bond Cromes has 16 years of experience in Metallurgical Engineering and 7 years of experience as Owner of Cromes Metallurgical Consulting. Her areas of expertise include metallurgical engineering, primarily in grinding, classification and selective flotation; and industrial wastewater treatment. Cromes Metallurgical Consulting is a metallurgical consulting company that provides project management, benchtop research, on-site mineral processing plant troubleshooting, laboratory and processing facility personnel training, industrial wastewater treatment and other mineral processing services to clients world-wide. Prior to starting Cromes Metallurgical Consulting, Ms. Bond Cromes worked for Teck Cominco Alaska, the University of Idaho Analytical Sciences Laboratory and the U.S. Bureau of Mines.

She attributes her success to her ability to see a goal and go for it, and to a measure of good luck as well. She became involved in her profession because she grew up in a mining town surrounded by beautiful forested lands and became interested in mining, chemistry and the environment. Her exposure to the intricacies of extractive metallurgy while guiding mine tours in Lead, South Dakota cemented her interests and she went on to pursue metallurgical engineering and interdisciplinary environmental science degrees at the University of Idaho.

Ms. Bond Cromes received her Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Idaho (1995); a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Idaho (1999) and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Alaska (2004). She is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME), the Northwest Mining Association (NWMA) and is an Honorary Member of the Phi Sigma Biological Sciences Honor Society. In her "free time," she is as an officer in the Rochford Volunteer Fire Department.

In five years time, Ms. Bond Cromes plans to have opened a multi-services metallurgical laboratory in the town of Lead, SD specializing in full project management, bench scale grinding, flotation and leach testwork, as well as continuing to provide on-site metallurgical services to clients world-wide.
