Worldwide Who's Who Names Rick Baker, M.A.Ed., Professional of the Year in Nonprofit Operations Management

    OTTAWA, ON, CANADA, July 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rick Baker, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Ottawa RA Centre, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Nonprofit Operations Management. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

The Ottawa RA Centre brings an array of sports, fitness and recreation services to the residents of the local area, and it is managed by CEO Rick Baker. He brings 42 years of experience to his current role, exercising particular talents for leadership, personnel management, and organizational development. He manages a 350,000 square-foot recreation centre, 12 satellite fitness centers and 40 cafeterias within government premises, and leads a total of 350 staff members in order to do so. Mr. Baker develops the policies and procedures for the centre, and is responsible for the personnel engagement of its employees. It is also necessary that he report to a Board of Directors on a monthly basis.

Mr. Baker has always enjoyed making people feel good about themselves and becoming positive role models, which is how he became involved in his four-decade career in nonprofit operations management. He has served as the Ottawa RA Centre's CEO for the last three years, and feels his success in this role is due in large part to his mentors, who instilled within him a passion for giving back to his profession, by sharing, learning and caring about people.

This passion for learning is what encouraged him to attain such a formidable educational background. He holds a Diploma in Recreation Leadership from Algonquin College in Ottawa and an Honours Science Degree in Leisure Studies from the University of Ottawa. Mr. Baker also earned a Master's Degree in Education from Central Michigan University in 2008.

In addition to remaining involved with the alumni association of Central Michigan University, the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College, Mr. Baker is a member of an array of professional organizations. He belongs to the Canadian

Society of Club Managers and the Canadian Society of Association Directors of which he is a Chapter President of both organizations. He also serves as a member of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Advisory Board of Algonquin College.
