LANSING, WV, March 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- What's being called one of the worst winters on record could result in one of the best rafting seasons in decades for visitors to West Virginia's New River Gorge. Whitewater rafting experts at River Expeditions, one of the region's premier rafting guide outfits, are predicting record high water, resulting in an unforgettable rafting experience. Adventure enthusiasts can experience the raging waters caused by this year's spring thaw on the New River when River Expeditions opens its season April 10.

"True adventure lovers won't want to miss out on the spring season this year," said Heather Johnson. "The higher water drives powerful tides, waves and holes, taking what's already an exciting rafting experience to a whole new level. We haven't seen this kind of snowfall for many years, and we're eager to encounter this one-of-a-kind rafting adventure with our guests."

The biggest whitewater of the season is featured March through May, making the opening whitewater weekend in April the perfect time to experience the New River Gorge. River Expeditions offers a host spring packages, including overnight family trips, single- and two-day trips, high adventure/small raft options and more. A full list of season-long rafting events is available at www.raftinginfo.com.

Conveniently located 4 miles south of the world-famous New River Gorge Bridge in the heart of West Virginia's New River Gorge National Park, River Expeditions guests Experience America's Best Whitewater. A family-owned and operated business, River Expeditions offers more than 70 years of combined outfitting experience in rafting, mountain biking, ATV touring, horseback riding, rock climbing and rappelling. On-site RV and tent camp sites, new cabins, outfitter and camp stores, Fire Creek Lodge and Conference Center, message therapy, dining area, outdoor pools, hot tubs, paintball and The Red Dog River Saloon add to the guest experience.
