/Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Yasue Sakaoka, Artist Educator, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of art and education.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Sakaoka has distinguished herself in teaching art, sculpture and the history of art. She reveals her Japanese heritage in large-scale three-dimensional paper sculptures that reflect the influence of the ancient folk art of origami. Her work has been shown at Galerie International in New York, Dayton Art Institute, and Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center in Columbus, among many others. She has curated numerous exhibits in Ohio and written a number of exhibition catalogues.
Ms. Sakaoka holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts. She is the recipient of fellowships from Ohio Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities and The Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Ms. Sakaoka has served as a visiting artist in sculpture at the Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton. She is affiliated with College Art Association, International Sculpture Center, Italian Society and Dayton Visual Arts Center.
