TAKATSUKI, JAPAN, August 15, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Dr. Yasuhiro Tsukamoto a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Tsukamoto celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Tsukamoto is a veterinary professor with the department of animal hygiene at the Graduate School of Environmental and Biological Sciences with the Kyoto Prefecture University in Japan. He is better known as the founder of Ostrich Pharma Company Limited, established in 2009 for the development and commercialization of powerful ostrich antibodies. Dr. Tsukamoto's venture directly follows his academic research with Kyoto Prefecture University. His paper on the subject was commended with a 2009 Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, instantly rising to international acclaim as a profound defense against a slew of diseases.
A graduate of Osaka Prefecture University, Dr. Tsukamoto studied with the Veterinary Medicine Study Program in the Faculty of Agriculture. From 1994 to 1999, he matriculated with the Graduate School of Agricultural and Biological Sciences at the university to earn a PhD in veterinary medical science. Dr. Tsukamoto went on to teach as an assistant professor with Osaka Prefecture University for six years, becoming an associate professor in 2005. Three years later he was appointed to his current position of professor with Kyoto Prefecture University. His particular research interests include immunology, pathology, and animal sciences.
In 2009, Dr. Tsukamoto's research was featured in the business section of Japan Times. His flock of 500 ostriches enabled Dr. Tsukamoto's team to develop facial masks lined with antibodies resistant to avian influenza, in response to an outbreak in 2004. Ostrich Pharma makes approximately 32 million masks per month, enough to deliver significant population protection against a number of flu viruses. The masks are available through online retailers such as Amazon.co.jp, though the practice of wearing them is so far limited to a Japanese cultural custom. "I am building my stockpile of antibodies in anticipation of a life-or-death scenario," said Dr. Tsukamoto for Japan Times. "I already have enough to make masks for the whole world."
In 2016, STAT reported that Dr. Tsukamoto's research is contributing to the startup company OstriGen, with hopes of using the same techniques in producing countermeasures for many of the diseases threatening mankind today, such as Zika, Ebola, and intestinal tract diseases. In August of 2016, the Better Future Foundation reported that Dr. Tsukamoto's "Amechan" antibody-infused candies were used as part of the One Candy project to strengthen underprivileged children against gut bacteria in Smokey Mountain, Manila, in the Philippines.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Tsukamoto has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com
