/24-7PressRelease/ - HOUSTON, TX, July 03, 2008 - It's a response to the United States' decision to remove North Korea from its list of sponsors of terrorism. The cooling tower, North Korea's main source of plutonium, a 5 megawatt-electric reactor - MW (e) the most visible symbol of the North Korea's 20-year nuclear program. The reactor and the Radiochemical Laboratory were ordered a "freeze" on the facilities by inspectors on July of 2007. The site was observed to determine when the reactor was in use by analyzing satellite images that showed steam plumes coming from the cooling tower. This freeze was ordered under the "Agreed Framework" with the United States.
Satellite Imaging Corporation in cooperation with GeoEye created a 3D Terrain Visualization movie of the Yongbyon nuclear site in North Korea. The creation of the 3D Flythrough movie was made possible with the use of Stereo IKONOS Satellite image data and 2m DEM extracted from the image data.
"This new 3D terrain modeling technology can provide organizations and agencies with a bird's eye view of global security sites to observe and monitor any significant activities and Landcover changes that may occur.
