Young Soon Park Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Distinction in Culinary Arts

    SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, September 01, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Young Soon Park has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Park has enjoyed a long and illustrious journalistic career, gradually transitioning into the subtle art of coffee making and tasting over 24 years of his career in the Republic of Korea. He is well known for coining the liberal arts subject of "coffee humanities," which includes Mr. Park's world-class coffee taster education course registered with the Korean government in April of 2014. By spreading coffee education worldwide, he has dedicated his career to making a new career path for coffee experts and introducing the important aspect of storytelling, allowing casual drinkers to understand aspects of health, distinction, and other vital qualities contained in the wonderful coffee bean.

Born in the Republic of Korea, Mr. Park served with the Korean Army 123rd Reserve Officers Training Corps and studied microbiology with Chungbuk National University. He earned a Master of Arts in journalism from Korea University, creating a unique background ideally suited to coffee virtuosity. Mr. Park has not always specialized in that wakeful brew, starting his career as a junior society reporter with the Segye Times and the National Assembly during his collegiate years. In 2002 and 2003, he helped to found the Metro and the Daily Focus respectively in South Korea, and in 2011, he accepted the position of editor and publisher of Coffee Daily, which marked his first official step on the path of coffee humanities. In 2013, Mr. Park began teaching with Kyungmin College, and in 2016, he was invited to design the flavor master course in the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

Regarded as an authority in coffee distinction, Mr. Park has strengthened public education in Korea to help consumers recognize the positive effects of coffee. He established the Coffee Critics Association in 2013 to encourage customers to distinguish the difference between good and bad coffee, which has become a successful campaign in improving the palate of the Korean public. Since 2015, Mr. Park has served as a judge with the Korean Skills Quality Authority, and he holds a 2016 Flavor Master Certificate from the Culinary Institute of America, roaster and barista qualifications from the International Institute of Coffee Tasters in Italy, as well as a certification as a level two barista and roaster with the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe, based in England.

Mr. Park is also an expert in wines, and has been presented with a wine blending certification from the Gineste Wine Academy in Bordeaux, France and a Kikisake-Shi sommelier qualification from SSI International in Japan. He is the author of numerous industry papers and books, including pieces on microbiology and handbooks on coffee cocktails and e-learning. The Coffee Critic Association released the "Coffee Lover's Handbook" by Matt Robinson in 2015, and Mr. Park is the author of "Cafe Beverage and Coffee Cocktail," released in 2014.

As a testament to the world-uniting powers of coffee, Mr. Park was selected to represent the UNESCO Korea Committee in 2013 as an honorary ambassador.
