/24-7PressRelease/ - LOS ANGELES, CA, May 11, 2008 - Missile Rider Publishing- today announced the nationwide release of the award-winning novel, The Strand Prophecy, written by twins, Brittany and Brianna Winner, 13, and their father Jeff Winner. Appropriately dubbing themselves JBB Winner (Jeff, Brittany and Brianna), the twins joined forces with their father to write a novel in an effort to pursue their passion for storytelling.
Though their struggle with illness and dyslexia challenged the girls from birth, they overcame adversity and are empowering other young authors to do the same.
"They have always been amazing storytellers," said Jeff Winner, the father of the identical twin girls. "They had created hundreds of characters and many fantasy worlds by age three."
""We enjoy writing so much that we want to inspire other kids to write," Brittany explained.
Along with the nationwide Barnes and Noble release of their first novel in a five-book series, the girls are touring schools throughout the country with an assembly they call "If You Can Dream It, You Can Write It." During the assembly, the girls are interviewed by "#2," a computer generated robot generated via computer graphic technology. The twin-authors discuss how they overcame learning disabilities to create the novel, as well as explaining situational creative writing. The girls have invested the money they have received on the book to give back to the community and bring this assembly, free of charge, to schools across the nation.
The novel, which has won awards like the Benjamin Franklin Best Young Adult Fiction Award, Best First Book Young Adult Fiction and Best First Book Fiction and the Independent Publishers Book Awards Gold Medal, is about a scientist superhero, with no powers, who must warn the world about rapidly evolving creatures and protect the innocent.
"The girls are truly inspiring, but most of all, the twins deliver a strong message of inspiration and motivation. They instill a passion for learning; that message is especially effective when delivered by kids-- for kids," commented Deborah McIntire, a teacher in the Orange County Department of Education.
"We have always been able to create worlds and use our imagination. Now we use it to write our books," said Brianna.
"I love to watch my characters change and grow and I especially like creating worlds with my family members," explained Brittany.
The Strand Prophecy is currently on the accelerated readers list in 65,000 schools. In addition, the girls wrote an album of songs to accompany the book which launched on ITunes and Amazon.com on May 1st, 2008.
