LOS ANGELES, CA, February 28, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- You-Turn: Changing Direction In Midlife (ISBN 978-1-4196-9501-8, Touch the Sun Publishing, 2008) by Dr. Nancy Irwin has been nominated for the Benjamin Franklin Book Award that is awarded by the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) in the self-help category. The Benjamin Franklin Award is considered one of the most prestigious book awards in the publishing industry and recognizes excellence in independent publishing. You-Turn: Changing Direction In Midlife is a collection of inspiring stories from real people who have started a new path in midlife. The book and author are earning an international following among readers worldwide. The winner of the Benjamin Franklin Award will be announced on May 28, 2009 at BookExpo America in New York City.

"I am very honored to have been nominated for the Benjamin Franklin Award," said Dr. Nancy Irwin, author of You-Turn: Changing Direction In Midlife. "I wanted You-Turn to be an inspirational and empowering book for people who are looking to make a positive change in their life but are uncertain about how to make the change they desire. I believed that the stories of real people in this book who changed directions in their lives and impacted others would serve as motivation for others. I am very pleased at the reception You-Turn: Changing Direction In Midlife is receiving and am looking forward to future books on life changes."

You-Turn: Changing Direction In Midlife is a collection of real life stories of individuals who desired to change course in midlife and pursue a different path from the life they were following. The book is a smorgasbord of 43 changing lifestyles and life experiences, told in first person by the individuals who underwent them. The contributors represent a wide variety of backgrounds. Each individual tells their story and offers advice for others contemplating that somewhat fearful leap of faith. In some instances these people are similar to Robert Frost's poem, The Path Less Traveled in that they followed a path and dream that many could never see them pursuing. From these stories, readers are drawn to identify what is not working in their lives, explore where they want their lives to go, transfer skills from their 'wrong' direction to enhance their right one, and overcome fears that prevent people from making the changes they seek. In its easy to read style, it has been described as a worthy successor to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
