Yvonne Coleman Lowrie Celebrates Decades of Experience in Sales, Volunteering, and the Arts

Mrs. Lowrie was named a Fort Worth Outstanding Woman of the Year in the Arts Award in 1996



    FORT WORTH, TX, December 07, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yvonne C. Lowrie has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With a professional career spanning many decades, first working with teenage girls at the YWCA, Mrs. Lowrie is now working as an artist and a volunteer in her community. Through the years, she has exhibited her art works at the Fort Worth Regional Library, the Arlington Public Library, the Bob Duncan Community Center, the Fort Worth Community Art Center, Woman's Haven Children's School, and the Welcome House Youth Center. She is also represented in permanent collections at the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institute, and the White House. Midway in her career, she worked in sales and as a teacher for Stretch and Sew Fabric Center, and Tole, Etc.

A graduate of Carson-Newman College and Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Mrs. Lowrie holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education. In order to remain active and engaged among her professional circles, she affiliates herself with the Olave Baden-Powell Society, the Society of Decorative Painters, and the American Business Women's Association, where she has served as a committee member since the early 1960s. Additionally, she has been associated with the Girl Scouts for many years, coordinating trips for girls and adults separately to Girl Scouts Centers in Switzerland, England, Mexico and India.

A respected and versatile figure in her field, Mrs. Lowrie has been awarded many times for her professional accomplishments. In 1996, she won the Fort Worth Outstanding Woman of the Year in the Arts through the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women. More recently, she earned the Lone Star Legend Award from the Volunteer Center of North Texas, and in 2012 received the Life Time Achievement Award as a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Texas-Oklahoma Plains Council and has been named to numerous publications, including Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women. Looking toward the future, Mrs. Lowrie intends to experience the continued growth and success of her volunteerism and career.
