RALEIGH, NC September 27, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Zebulon native Dale Merritt, financial advisor for Banyan Rock & Talent, a provider of financial planning and insurance services, has donated 40 Carolina Mudcats playoff tickets to the Zebulon Boys & Girls Club.

Merritt supports the Boys & Girls Club mission that focuses on reaching out to at-risk children in the community and providing them with the resources necessary to become responsible citizens.

"Game tickets are usually not in our budget, and when we do receive donations they're typically for regular season games," said Karl Thoma, director of the Zebulon Boys & Girls Club. "Dale's playoff ticket donation was a great treat for club members and their families."

Community programs like the Boys & Girls Club are important in helping at-risk children and their families. Wake County alone has an estimated 30 to 39 gangs with the average age of membership being 15, according to the Comprehensive Assessment of Gangs in North Carolina. Donations like Merritt's provide fun social activities for children where they are needed most.

"I'm excited about giving children the chance to enjoy all their community has to offer," said Merritt. "Donating baseball tickets to the Boys & Girls Club is one way I can support my community."
