Zero Down and Counting

    LONDON, ENGLAND, May 14, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- An appeal and Kickstarter campaign has just been launched by Angel on the Corner Theatre Company to get their play Zero Down, written by BBC award winning writer Sarah Hehir, about the pressures on lives of Zero Contract workers, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.

'Zero Down' tells the story of three female care home workers employed on zero hour contracts at a run-down care home. The play performed last year to rave 4 star reviews is due to move to the Edinburgh Festival later this year, if they can raise the funds with their Kickstarter campaign. "Please help spread the word" says actress and co-founder and of the theatre company Katie Hurley. "It's imperative to get to the Edinburgh Fringe. What better showcase to add our voice to this important debate at the biggest theatre festival in the world to tell the Zero Hours contract story from the perspective of three care workers" she said.

The play takes audiences into the pressure cooker lives of three complex co-workers as they begin their late shift in the basement of Silver Apples Care Home. And so begins a night of dishonesty, aggression and betrayal as underlying tensions between the overworked workers and their patients erupt.

Viewers are invited to make pledges/donations - and in return receive gifts from the company depending on how much the person has pledged. Some of the gifts include signed posters, playtexts, tickets to the London preview, a dress rehearsal invitation and a workshop with writer, Sarah Hehir.
