Servicewomen in Afghanistan and Iraq struggle to preserve their feminity amidst a male-dominated culture and skin-scorching Iraqi heat, where visiting a local store for health or beauty items might literally kill you. Patronizing such stores can endanger both local residents as well as soldiers, so shopping is either discouraged or restricted.
