/24-7PressRelease/ -- Zulekha Hospital celebrates Global Hand washing Day, slated for Thursday 15 October, 2009. At the Hospital The driving theme for Global Hand washing Day is children and patients, and the main objectives of this celebration are:
•Foster and support a Hospital wide culture of hand washing with soap.
•Raise awareness about the benefits of hand washing with soap.
•Adhere to the principal of infection control and patient safety.
Although people around the world wash their hands with water, very few wash their hands with soap at the critical occasions. More hand washing with soap means lower rates of infectious disease: Clean Hands Save Lives!
Since 2007 JCI accreditation, the Handwashing Programs in Zulekha Hospital have been working towards Patient safety and infection free environment. Design it, implement it, evaluate it...and share it with your community. That's the way the Zulekha Healthcare group is moving forward in their Handwashing Programs.
At Zulekha Hospital on this day loads of activities are outlined.
The Hospital digital screens would display the eight steps on effective Hand washing on this day. A Team of Volunteers would give demonstrations to the patients on how to do proper hand washing in the washrooms with a hand washing technique leaflet on that day.
Mr.Taher shams, President Zulekha Hospital in his message to the campaign remarked "It's our added responsibility to foster a culture of infection free environment. The global hand washing day will be an ideal platform to communicate to the community on the importance of clean hands and healthy living."
The Hospital infection control team will go to Far Eastern English School Sharjah as part of the social responsibility, to give training to the children on safe hand washing practices.
