/24-7PressRelease/ - NEW YORK, NY, August 11, 2006 -- A group formed with the purpose of making three of New York's racetracks world class facilities just bolstered its resume with the addition of two new members to its team. Excelsior Racing Associates, led by New York Yankees partner Steve Swindal and entertainment project developer Richard Fields, added Jerry Bilinski and Gary Contessa to its strong team.

The bid is for three of New York's most famous tracks: the Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga. The winning bidder will take over operating responsibility on January 1, 2008.

Prior to joining Excelsior, Jerry Bilinski was the Chairman of the New York state racing and wagering board. He is a veterinarian with unique insight into animal welfare and New York racing conditions; many of which he wants to improve upon. Bilinski's optimism for the project was evident in his statement, "I have chosen to work with Excelsior because they provide the best vision and support for the New York Racing franchise moving forward. I believe strongly in advancing and strengthening the racing industry by ensuring animal welfare, improving conditions in the backstretch, and creating jobs for the state of New York. My role as advisor to Excelsior Racing Associates will allow me to pursue those goals, and to be part of a team with a proven track record of success."

Gary Contessa is a trainer and has been successful in the northeast since 1984. The Contessa Stable has consistently been one of the leading stables in New York over the past decade and Gary was named Trainer of the Year in 2004 by the New York Thoroughbred Breeders Association. Much like Bilinski, Contessa's addition adds a new dimension to Excelsior. His perspectives as a trainer provide the group with yet another expert voice from a different sector of the racing world. On joining Excelsior Contessa said, "I think they have a super group of guys with a super track record and they asked me to help them represent the horsemen. I just want to make sure the horsemen have a voice. Some of these bidders don't know the plight of owners, trainers and stable help."

Earlier in the week Excelsior added Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey. The three new members solidify Excelsior's group which now includes experts representing three different aspects of the industry: Jockey, Trainer and Veterinarian.

Steve Swindal and Richard Fields are successful businessmen with proven track records.

Richard Fields is the Chairman of Coastal Development, LLC, a privately owned company specializing in the development and financing of luxury hotels, entertainment resorts and casino gaming facilities. Richard Fields' most successful project has been the co-development of the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Florida.

Steve Swindal is a partner with the New York Yankees and has been handpicked by current owner George Steinbrenner as his eventual successor.
