iPhone Insurance Provider Issues A Warning, As Police Reveal Paris Thieves Favour Smartphones Over Wallets

    BERKS, ENGLAND, December 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If you are taking a break in the New Year, whether a short hop across to France or a bit further to sunnier climes, then make sure your smartphone is properly protected, warns specialist iPhone insurance provider Protect your bubble.

Stephen Ebbett, a spokesman from the gadget insurance firm, says that with Christmas now behind us, many of us will be looking to escape the grey (and often, snowy!) skies of UK to start the New Year somewhere a bit more glamorous.

He warns, however, that while you are in the holiday mood, you shouldn't neglect things like arranging iPhone insurance before you go. As an example, he has highlighted some recent French Police statistics which showed that:

- the theft of smartphones on the Paris Metro (the French public transport system which is their equivalent of the London Underground) is a concern for the Paris Police, which has increased;
- around one in every two thefts on the Paris Metro now concerns a mobile telephone;
- this compares to wallet or purse thefts which represent only 33% of incidents;
- 75% of violent crimes carried out in October 2010 on the Metro were related to mobile phones.

Mr Ebbett says: "No one wants their holiday ruined if something happens to their iPhone, whether it is lost, damaged or stolen. After all, smartphones can prove invaluable, not just for keeping in contact with people back home, but for taking photographs, finding directions and online information such as train timetables, listening to music etc. It's amazing that such a small device can do so much - and it's no wonder just how much many of us rely on them.

"And that is why, if something does happen to your phone, it is important that you can get a replacement as soon as can, no matter where you are in the world."

Protect your bubble iPhone insurance benefits include worldwide cover - meaning that should something happen to your iPhone, it will be replaced within 48 hours of a successful claim. Policy benefits include cover for theft, accidental and liquid damage, and breakdown outside of their manufacturer's warranty period - from just GBP5.99 a month. Loss cover is available for an additional GBP1 a month.

Mr. Ebbett summarises: "Protecting your iPhone before you head off should be a top priority. And with our affordable iPhone insurance cover, you will be able to get peace of mind at a reasonable price." Other than iPhone insurance packages, Protect your bubble also offers gadget insurance on cameras, camcorders, notebooks, Blackberry devices, iPods, iPads mobile phones, game consoles, MP3 players, PC's, PDA's, Macbooks and satnavs from GBP1.49 a month.
