HBCU Graduate and Content Creator, Cornell Conaway Leverages his brand "HBCU Athlete'' to Amplify the Conversation around HBCU Athlete Awareness

"As a black-owned fitness brand and an HBCU graduate, it was critical for me to create and produce items that spoke directly to the HBCU community while also being the greatest tools to help athletes in training," says Cornell Conaway.

"NFL legends like Ed Reed, Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Deion Sanders wearing our brand means a lot to me as they're raising exposure for our HBCU athletes and institutions.", says Cornell Conaway

WASHINGTON, DC, September 28, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cornell Conaway, the creator of Gainz Sportsgear, continues to drive the narrative of HBCU sports appreciation through his HBCU Athlete brand. Cornell Conaway, a content creator, graduate of Bowie State University, and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., established his clothing brand to provide athletic apparel and training gear for all athletes, from beginner to competitive level.

With the launch of the subsidiary brand, HBCU Athlete, Cornell set out to create a brand that not only personified trendy athletic apparel but also provided the training equipment required for athletes to perform to their full potential, while advocating Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). HBCU Athlete is the only HBCU Collegiate Athletic focused brand that focuses on the "total athlete" with athletic resistance brands and USPA Approved Wrist Wraps. "As a black-owned fitness brand and an HBCU graduate, it was critical for me to create and produce items that spoke directly to the HBCU community while also being the greatest tools to help athletes in training," says Cornell.

As HBCU Homecoming season is rapidly approaching along with the attention on HBCU culture these days, the HBCU Athlete brand is beginning to generate more conversation around HBCU sports programs. Cornell has decided to meet with a number of stakeholders from various HBCUs to discuss his brand's mission and vision, as well as how the brand can collaborate with the various colleges to provide athletes with more than just training gear, but training gear that reflects their individuality while supporting their university's mission and vision aligned. Cornell's goal is to provide quality athletic training equipment to HBCU athletic programs while also advocating for their programs.

Many former and current collegiate athletes have been photographed wearing HBCU Athlete recently. Channing Crowder, a retired Miami Dolphins linebacker, University of Florida alum, and The Pivot Podcast host, can be seen wearing the brand's "Trendsetter Hoodie" by HBCU Athlete on a recent episode of Funky Fridays with The Pivot Podcast. Along with Jackson State University's, Head Football Coach Deion Sanders was recently photographed wearing the brand's "We Create Culture" crewneck. "NFL legends like Ed Reed, Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Hall of Famer Deion Sanders wearing our brand means a lot to us since they're raising exposure for our HBCU athletes and institutions," says Cornell. Cornell, as the creative director and founder, wanted to guarantee that his designs were protected, therefore he decided to register the trademark "HBCU ATHLETE."

As the "HBCU Athlete" brand continues on their path to carve their own niche in the athleisure and athletic branding space, the brand's focus will shift to include additional athletic training products in the coming years.
