Dr. Steven R. Federman Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Education

Steven Federman is a professor emeritus at The University of Toledo



Dr. Federman has contributed to several publications as a scientific editor for The Astrophysical Journal and as a technical editor for the Journal of the Optical Society of America B.

    OTTAWA HILLS, OH, May 15, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Steven Federman has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Upon earning a Bachelor of Science from the Tandon School at New York University in 1971, Dr. Federman furthered his education, completing a Master of Science and a PhD from New York University. Through his doctoral studies, he developed an interest in diffuse matter in space, the production of elements, and more, which he carried into his professional life. During the early stages of his career, Dr. Federman gained valuable expertise in research and education as a senior research technician with Weill Cornell Medicine's Hospital for Special Surgery and as a postdoctoral fellow at New York University and The University of Texas at Austin.

In the ensuing years, Dr. Federman honed his professional expertise as a national research council associate and member of the technical staff at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and as a lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin. Subsequently, he joined The University of Toledo as an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Over the years, he became an associate professor and professor before earning an emeritus position. Likewise, Dr. Federman has contributed to several publications as a scientific editor for The Astrophysical Journal and as a technical editor for the Journal of the Optical Society of America B.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Federman aligns himself with numerous organizations, including the American Astronomical Society (Fellow), American Physical Society (Fellow), American Association for the Advancement of Science (Fellow), and Optica, formerly the Optical Society of America (Senior Member). Given his outstanding achievements, Dr. Federman received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and a Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian Award, as well as inclusion in such publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Federman is proud of being acknowledged by his peers with fellowships in professional and scientific societies. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his ability to solve interesting problems. Looking toward the future, Dr. Federman aims to continue researching and traveling.
