MAPLE GROVE, MN, May 13, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stephen Baird has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than three decades of leadership in the legal field, Mr. Baird has established himself as a distinguished figure in the realm of intellectual property law. Since 2019, he has served as a principal shareholder at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, where he has led efforts related to his focus on trademark and brand protection. In recognition of his contributions to trademark law, Mr. Baird has twice been honored with the Top Trademark Author Award by JD Supra Readers' Choice.

Mr. Baird's journey in the legal field began in the early 1990s with a judicial clerkship for Senior Judge Wilson Cowen at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. He then progressed through positions of increasing responsibility and influence, including roles as an associate at Faegre & Benson LLP; an associate and equity partner at Dorsey & Whitney LLP; an equity shareholder at Arnold, White & Durkee; and a Principal shareholder at Fish & Richardson P.C. Before joining Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Mr. Baird spent 16 years with Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., as an equity partner, where he founded and led the award-winning DuetsBlog® and chaired the Trademark and Brand Management Group.

Among his many impressive credentials, one of Mr. Baird's most notable achievements is his pioneering work on behalf of Native Americans challenging the Washington Redskins trademarks as disparaging under federal law. His innovative legal theory, first proposed in a Ladas Award Winning law review article published in the Trademark Reporter in 1992, set a precedent for challenging trademarks on the basis of disparagement. This groundbreaking case highlights Mr. Baird's ability to think creatively and advocate effectively for clients including underrepresented groups.

Mr. Baird's expertise is not only recognized through his professional roles but also through his participation in industry-related organizations, such as the International Trademark Association and the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association. These affiliations underscore his commitment to staying at the forefront of developments in intellectual property law and contributing to the broader legal community.

Mr. Baird's success is built upon a solid educational foundation, including a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, earned from the University of Iowa in 1986 and 1990, respectively. Beyond his formal studies, he attributes his success to the hard work instilled in him by his parents, and he credits his team at Greenberg Traurig LLP for their extraordinary support and collective achievements.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Baird is dedicated to his family; a father of four, and married to his wife for thirty-six years, he and his wife value the moments they can share with their children away from the demands of his career. Looking ahead, he aims to continue growing his team and expanding their impact within the field of intellectual property law.
