Dr. Hubert Engelbrecht Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Engelbrecht is a geologist who currently conducts private research and invests time writing in his field of study. Recently, he has focused his research projects in the areas of the development of the scientific basis of the Geopark Werdenfels, the continuation of the reference literature database on environmental geology, the revision of his geological mapping, Farma Valley, in a Tertiary metamorphic core complex present in central Italy, and the elaboration of detailed lithostratigraphic columns of Carboniferous Turbidites present there. Dr. Engelbrecht formerly served as a supervisor of diploma students in geosciences and served as a doctor and of geosciences at Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (LMU) in Germany for nearly a decade until 1996.

In addition to authoring and co-authoring articles in peer-reviewed journals throughout his career, Dr. Engelbrecht published in 2017 a book entitled "250 Years of Industrial Consumption and Transformation of Nature", has presented at numerous geological conferences and was a participant of the documentary film "Menschliches Versagen" in 2008. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for the organization of the first online referential literature database in Germany about environmental geology and ecology, the first formulation of the necessity to create the National Geopark Northern Calcareous Alps and the conception of parental and filial geotopes in Germany, the first description of fossil resin in early Cretaceous Helvetic Units, the first complete geological survey and mapping of the geotope Farma Valley in Southern Tuscany, Italy, and the discovery of fusulinid foraminifera in the Verrucano Group of Southern Tuscany and of a carboniferous shelf-basin transition in Tuscany.

Dr. Engelbrecht was recognized with a Hanns Seidel Foundation scholarship in Munich between 1986 and 1989. The Hanns Seidel Foundation has been engaged since 1967 in political and civic education as well as in advancing democracy, peace, science, cultural development and scientific political consulting. Locally, Dr. Engelbrecht has served his community as a former youth leader for the German Alpinist Association, section Oberland, Murnau, for several years in the late 1970s and early 1980s and as a counselor Tenant for the Community Hessstrasse in Munich since 1999. He is also a member of several professional organizations such as the Verein der Forderer und Freunde des Deutschen Museums Munchen, the der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek, and of the German Geological Society.

Earning a secondary school leaving examination at the Gymnasium Murnau in Germany in 1976, and a Diploma in Geosciences at LMU in 1985, the degree of Dr. rer. nat. (equivalent to a PhD) was conferred to Hubert Engelbrecht in 1997, after he has spent years performing doctoral work at LMU. Married to his wife Helga Pfoertner, to whom he credits much of his achievements for supporting his efforts, Dr. Engelbrecht enjoys long distance running, mountain climbing, ecology and philosophy.
