Trumpet/flugelhorn player, arranger and educator, David Dubinsky is distinguished by Cambridge Publishing for his talents and accomplishments in the musical arena. Having achieved a number of musical successes, Dave is featured on the July, 2008 CD release, "This Is It," with the band, Rico Barr & the Jump 'n' Jive Review (www.ricobarr.com), available through cdbaby.com.
As a student at Berklee College of Music, Dave was the lead trumpet player with Berklee's renowned Recording Jazz Ensemble, led by the legendary educator and jazz icon, Herb Pomeroy. He has since performed throughout New England alongside high-profile talent including Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, Bobby Darin, Rita Moreno and at the North Shore Music Theatre as well as with several Boston-area commercial bands. In 2002, Dave placed "runner-up" in the trumpet performance competition sponsored by the National Swing Awards organization. Now entering his 25th year as a festival adjudicator and clinician with Heritage Music Festivals, Dave currently serves as the Vice President of Education and Outreach on the Board of the Boston Symphony/Pops Volunteer Organization. He also contributed content, re: jazz education, within a well-received educational text entitled "Teaching Music in Secondary Schools."
Recently retired from a 20-year career in the healthcare field, Dave previously served as a marketing, business development and contracting executive for a number of prominent, Boston-area healthcare provider organizations. He remains available as a strategic business consultant to the healthcare services industry. Recognized amongst his peers for his creativity and forward-thinking, Dave has seen a number of his ideas become market-based staples many years following his initial public advocacy. During his tenure in the healthcare sector, he served on a myriad of committees within the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA) and the Health Care Financial Management Association (HFMA). In 2007, he co-authored a timely HFMA article, which defined important cost considerations associated with the implementation of electronic health records within physicians' private offices. Dave was invited to speak at the World Health Care Congress Conference in 2008, and was also a panelist at the 2006 BCBSMA Hospital Quality Forum.
A 1973 graduate of Berklee College of Music, Dave holds a bachelor of science in music. He is professionally affiliated with the Massachusetts Hospital Association, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the World Healthcare Congress. Dave resides in North Chelmsford, MA, with his beautiful, talented and brilliant wife, Catherine, who is the Vice President of Corporate Integrity for Fresenius Medical Care, North America.
