CANISTEO, NY, October 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cynthia E. Norton, Second-Grade Teacher at the Canisteo-Greenwood Elementary School within the Canisteo-Greenwood Central School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

In her 37 years teaching, Cynthia E. Norton has never taken a sick day. "I have had almost perfect attendance through it all," she said during her interview with Cambridge Who's Who. Her immaculate record, she noted, predates her professional career. In all of her years of Sunday school, church, elementary, secondary and college education, Ms. Norton has rarely missed a step. Her tireless dedication has not gone unnoticed - she has been the recipient of numerous "Perfect Attendance" awards at Canisteo-Greenwood, where her responsibilities include teaching second-grade students in the subjects of mathematics, social studies and science. She also holds writers' workshops and strives to inspire her students to read. Ms. Norton's impressive resume also includes 20 years of teaching in vacation Bible school, Sunday school and as a junior church instructor.

Ms. Norton became involved in her profession because she always wanted to educate children. She has earned the beaming adoration of her students, who are continuously inspired by her lively and engaging teaching methods. Her lesson plans and learning activities are interactive and fun, serving as a fundamental framework for intellectual stimulation. When it comes to special lessons and holidays, Ms. Norton can be counted on to don a funny hat, pins, necklaces and decorated socks. Her students often wonder what she will wear next. Due to this unique approach, students' learning rates have been nothing short of impressive. Many become lifelong learners and return to thank her for her unwavering dedication. "Oftentimes, during open house conferences, a lot of my former students come back to reminisce," she beams.

Ms. Norton received a master's degree in elementary education in 1990 from Alfred University, a bachelor of arts in 1987 from Alfred University and an associate of science from Empire State College in early childhood educational studies in 1985. She is a member of the Canisteo-Greenwood Education Association and the New York State United Teachers union. This year, Ms. Norton will be included in "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts." Selected from over 400,000 registry members, she was chosen for her demonstrated professional, personal and academic excellence.
