BROOKLYN, NY, October 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ --Jory Zand Lieber, Literacy Coach for P.S. 116 Elizabeth L. Farrell School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in elementary education.
Mrs. Lieber's expertise is in literacy coaching. In 2003, she became a national literacy consultant for the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. In 1007, she assumed her current position at P.S. 116 where she is responsible for providing professional development in literacy to teachers for students from kindergarten to second grade. Previously, Mrs. Lieber honed her skills teaching students from Kindergarten to fifth grade. A lifelong reader and storyteller, she considers opening her students' eyes to new worlds and opportunities through reading to be the most vital aspect of what she does. She attributes her success to the support of her family, who taught her to prioritize her education.
A product of the Teachers College, Columbia University, Mrs. Lieber received her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Teaching in 2000. She is a member of Phi Delta Kappa and the International Reading Association. She names the World Wildlife Federation as her favorite charity. In five years, Mrs. Lieber plans to either continue in literacy coaching or return to teaching in a classroom setting.
