BREWTON, AL, November 2, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Billy D. Blair, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in law enforcement & intelligence.

Billy D. Blair, an expert investigator, possesses over 32 years of professional experience. Over the course of his career, he has held numerous positions in law enforcement, having served in the Troy Alabama Police Department, the Montgomery Alabama Police Department and the Jefferson County Alabama Sheriff's Department. In an effort to expand his professional portfolio, Mr. Blair joined the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. For nine years he served as a special agent with the bureau before taking on the position of program manager for the Field Management Staff in Washington, D.C. He served for five years as resident agent in charge of the Mobile Field Office, served as program manager in the undercover branch and then ATF's first special agent in charge of the special events branch. Mr. Blair became chief of the field intelligence division in 2006 and assistant to the special agent in charge in 2008. At his current post, he is responsible for managing nine enforcement groups and one intelligence group covering three states. He also oversees planned operations, manages staffing and handles disciplinary actions. Furthermore, he serves as a division agent cashier and dispenses money to fund undercover operations.

In a candid interview with Cambridge Who's Who, Mr. Blair confessed that his desire to face new challenges inspired him to become involved in federal law enforcement. Armed with a strong work ethic and backed by his loving family, he proudly serves his country and its citizens. Being entrusted with highly sensitive assignments is especially rewarding for Mr. Blair. He considers having the ability to bring the talents of other agencies together for a common goal to be a career highlight.

A graduate of Troy University, Mr. Blair holds a master's degree in criminal justice, earned in 1977 and a bachelor of science in criminal justice, earned in 1976. He is a member of the National Native American Law Enforcement Association, International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts and International Association of Chiefs of Police. In recognition of dedication to his field, Mr. Blair was honored with the "Heroism Award" by the Attorney General and the Federal Investigators Association as well as a Gold Medal for being wounded by hostile fire from the director of the Bureau of ATF. Looking to the future, Mr. Blair intends to retire from the bureau and manage a larger police or sheriff's department.
