In 1999, she went into business for herself by opening Shop of Many Colors, a store selling fashion accessories. As the proprietor, she is in charge of operations, purchasing, merchandising and marketing. Ms. Borderieux always places emphasis on creating a pleasant retail environment, an idea based on her own disappointing experiences as a customer in other establishments. In addition to industry-related training, Ms. Borderieux is a Certified Mental Health Counselor and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health from The Ohio State University. She is a member of her local Chamber of Commerce. Known for her commitment to helping others, she sponsors a Native American student at St. Joseph's School in South Dakota.
