With 40 years of experience as a physician, Dr. Verkauf's areas of expertise include fibroid tumors of the uterus, multifactorial infertility, and polycystic ovary syndrome. His clinical practice involves treating infertility, performing surgical procedures and treating hormonal diseases in women. Dr. Verkauf was the first doctor in the state of Florida to successfully help conceive a live birth using in vitro fertilization. He attributes his success to his hard work and excellent medical training.

Dr. Verkauf has a particular interest in poking at the medical/socioeconomic interface and is a certified physician executive. In 1997, Dr. Verkauf received an MBA from the University of South Florida. Dr. Verkauf earned an MD from Tulane University. His post-doctoral training was at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is a charter member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, the Society for Associated Reproductive Technology, and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He belongs to many other medical organizations. Dr. Verkauf is also an American Medical Association delegate. He is a professor at the University of South Florida, and in the future he hopes to help develop medical student curriculum.
