FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, February 14, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rev. Hans-Fredrik Gustafson, a retired ordained Lutheran pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of interim ministry.
Named Cambridge Publishing's 2010 Professional of the Year in Interim Ministry, Hans-Fredrik Gustafson is hereby recognized for his steadfast commitment to religious leadership. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an ordained Lutheran pastor for more than 50 years—specializing in reformation history, ecumenical studies and liturgical and homiletic leadership. During the recent course of his career, Dr. Gustafson has served as an interim pastor for such organizations as The Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, the Zion Lutheran Church and the Advent Lutheran Church, all located in Florida.
In an exclusive interview with Cambridge Publishing, Dr. Gustafson recalled what he now cites as the highlight of his career. The year was 1996, and the congregation of the Holy Trinity Church had just relocated to Trumbull, Connecticut. Dr. Gustafson, the pastor at the time, played a critical role in the relocation and building process, and he continued to serve the congregation for an additional five years following the construction of its new facility, a $2 million project.
Today, Dr. Gustafson does supply and interim work in parishes in Florida. Though in retirement, he continues to serve these communities with the same perseverance and commitment to the Gospel as he did as a full-time pastor.
Dr. Gustafson recently joined the Speaker's Bureau of Food for the Poor Inc., representing that charitable organization in various congregations around the country, speaking on behalf of the work of the Food for the Poor, one of the largest charities in the U.S. Moving forward, Dr. Gustafson hopes to broaden his audience by developing his knowledge of Spanish. He is also planning to continue to offer his services as chaplain on cruises in the Caribbean and elsewhere.
Dr. Gustafson holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master of divinity from The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and a certification from the Interim Ministry Network. He was licensed for 5 years in the dioceses of Connecticut and Southeast Florida.
