For the past five decades, Dr. Quinonez has devoted her career to bridging language barriers and helping people learn. Throughout her career, she has honed her expertise in many subjects, including the translation of the biomedical, economic and law fields. Today, she is an independent translator of Portuguese, Spanish and English, a role which entails handling translations for business professionals. Dr. Quinonez has done public speaking on topics such as how to study, how to speak in public, how to make and present a Powerpoint presentation and how to write an article. She guides professionals seeking to publish in Portuguese, Spanish or English, and has translated a number of books, including "Fazendas Tradicionais on the Estrada Real" and "Manga Larga Marchardor."

In addition to working as an independent translator, Dr. Quinonez is a professor in the graduate division of Faculdade Pitágoras, teaching technical English to master's degree candidates in nursing. She has spearheaded curriculum changes at the school, which have kept language education where it needs to be: perfecting skills and helping students understand how to use English most effectively, while respecting individuals' interests and talent. Dr. Quinonez maintains that the Internet, cell phones, DVDs, and other platforms are needed to support the classroom daily.

Ms. Quinonez believes that translation and education both require constant learning and study, and both challenge her to grow, share and renew. She enjoys the demands, challenges, and excitement of translation. While she must remain faithful to each person and text, she always enjoys the invitation to study and provoke new types of knowledge and intelligence.

A graduate of Louisiana State University, Dr. Quinonez holds a Ph.D. in Portuguese and Spanish. She also holds a Master of Arts in Spanish from Trinity University and a Bachelor of Arts in literature and English from Our Lady of the Lake University. A life-certified teacher in the state of Texas, Dr. Quinonez plans to continue growing on a personal and professional level.
