LOS ANGELES, CA, February 13, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Elise Brisco has teamed with Dr. Paul Dougherty in conducting a medical research study to compare the effectiveness of a new homeopathic dry eye drop to traditional artificial tear drops in controlling symptoms of dry eye in the first week after LASIK. Through this research study, Dr. Brisco hopes to further improve her patients' eye care.

"It is common for LASIK patients to experience burning and stinging from dry eyes the week after LASIK is performed. When this occurs, artificial teardrops are typically utilized. However, in this study we will be randomly assigning either artificial tears or the new homeopathic dry eye drops," said Los Angeles optometrist, Dr. Elise Brisco.

Each eye drops used temporarily replaces tears, but the homeopathic dry eye drops also stimulate tear production. At the post-operative visit, patients will be given a questionnaire about their dry eye symptoms and will undergo a few routine, non-invasive tests to evaluate their individual signs of dry eye.

Patients who participate in the study will be offered a discounted price of $4,900 for all-laser LASIK procedures for participating in this study. The eye drops included will also be provided at no cost. Through this research study, Drs. Elise Brisco, Los Angeles, CA eye doctor, and Paul Dougherty will work with each patient throughout the study to determine the best treatment for dry eye symptoms after LASIK.

Additionally, patients can contact Hollywood Vision Center for a complimentary vision therapy consultation in Los Angeles. Through this complimentary vision therapy consultation, Dr. Elise Brisco will work with each patient to help improve eye muscle control and coordination, eye-hand and eye-body coordination, as well as visual processing/understanding and visual cognitive skills. The complimentary consultation in Los Angeles for vision therapy will set the grounds for proper treatment in the long run for patients.

Dr. Elise Brisco invites her patients to participate in this monumental study to further improve treatment options. To join this study, patients can contact Dr. Brisco and her staff at Hollywood Vision Center at (323) 954-5800.
