New Infographic from Range Hoods Inc Details the Differences Between Ducted and Ductless Range Hoods

Homeowners shopping for kitchen range hoods often ask how to distinguish a ducted range hood from a ductless range hood and wonder which one they should install in their kitchens.

SANTA ANA, CA, May 13, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Ducted Vs. Ductless Range Hoods Infographic illustrates the definition of a ducted and a ductless range hood in an easy-to-understand manner that compares the two options.

The following is the simplest way to remember the difference between a ducted and a ductless range hood: A ducted range hood ventilates air to the outside of the home, and a ductless range hood does not.

A ducted range hood ventilates the kitchen and blows air out of the home through the ductwork. This is a great option in homes in which ductwork is already installed.

A ductless range hood filters the air in the kitchen and re-circulates it back into the room. These range hoods may be a more affordable option if ductwork is not already installed in the home.

More differences between ducted and ductless range hoods include:

Ducted Range Hoods: Aluminum grease filters or stainless steel baffle filters capture the grease in the air, which prevents grease from building up on the cooking surface and on the kitchen cabinetry. These filters can be cleaned and put back into the range hood unit.

Ductless Range Hoods: This venting option uses charcoal filters to capture grease. However, these filters cannot be washed and put back into the unit. New filters need to be purchased every three to six months, depending on how much heavy duty cooking the household does.

Some range hood models can be converted from a ducted option to a ductless option using a re-circulating kit, also known as a ductless venting kit. These kits come with a stainless steel diverter and charcoal filters.

A range hood is needed in the home to ventilate grease, odors, heat and smoke in the kitchen created during cooking. Both ducted and ductless range hoods will get the job done.
